Shell Lubricants signed a regional lubricants distribution agreement with Mobis to supply Shell Helix oil products to Hyundai car dealers and consumers in the Middle East, Africa, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Under the three-year agreement, Mobis Middle East FZE will distribute Shell Helix HX5 AH, developed for Hyundai petrol and diesel engine cars. Mobis is a spare parts distributor for Hyundai and Kia motors in the regions.

The appeal to tie up with Mobis was to leverage [its] existing relationship with its sister company, Hyundai, in addition to harnessing Mobis in-depth knowledge of the regions commercial and operational needs, a Shell official told Lube Report. Mobis have existing, well-established relationships with all Hyundai distributors in the region.

This is in line with our aim to develop long-term relationships with global carmakers and original equipment manufacturers, which help us – and them – grow our businesses successfully, said Amr Adel, general manager for Shell Lubricants Middle East, Central and East Asia.

We have always intended to develop a new product line for our Hyundai vehicles, said Hyung Yong Lee, managing director for Mobis Middle East. Our global partnership with Shell lubricants has enabled us to join our efforts to produce an exclusive lubricants products line.

The recent announcement follows an extension of the global lubricants agreement between Shell and Hyundai, under which Shell will continue to provide Hyundai with both factory and service fill lubricants until 2015. Shell and Hyundai will also collaborate on lubricants research and development, and joint marketing activities across Hyundais service network.
