Sweden-based Perstorp Oxo AB announced it would increase prices effective Jan. 1 in Europe for 2-ethylhexanoic acid by €180 (U.S. $203) per metric ton and for n-butyric acids by €200/t because of supply and demand as well as increasing raw material prices. 2-EHA is a chemical intermediate used as a compound in the production of synthetic lubricants as well as oil additives, and n-butyric acid is also used in production of lubricants.
