Spain’s Demand Nears Pre-pandemic Levels

Lubricant demand in Spain this year through May was up 33% from the same period in 2020 – during which pandemic restrictions and lockdowns had the most impact – and was up 2% from the same time frame in 2019, based on data compiled by the Spanish Lubricants Association.

Enoc JV to Blend Lubes in Egypt

Egypt’s Misr Petroleum has reached an agreement for the company’s joint venture with Emirates National Oil Co. to produce finished lubricants at Misr’s blending plant in Alexandria, Egypt. The deal comes more than a year after the companies agreed to evaluate such an arrangement.

Gazprom Neft’s Lubes Flat in 2020

Gazprom Neft’s lubricant sales stood flat last year because of Russia’s stagnated industrial output and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on both domestic and foreign markets, according to the company’s annual performance report.

Muttenz, Switzerland-based Clariant announced on July 1 it would increase prices globally on its additives by up to 25%, including all wax additives. The company said the move, effective immediately, was necessary due to the cumulative impact of continued raw material cost increases, challenges in the availability of raw materials and rapid rises in energy and freight costs.
