China Base Oil Trade Slammed by Virus

Chinese base oil and lubricants plants have closed, and trade flows are being constricted by the rapidly spreading coronavrius epidemic.

Lukoil Revamps its Lubricant Production

Lukoil invested U.S. $6.1 million since 2018 to increase production capacity and improve efficiency at its lubricant production sites in Russia. The modernization continues in 2020, part of an investment program to strengthen cooperation with international carmakers, the company said last week.

Fuchs Profits Slid in 2019

Independent lubricant blender Fuchs Petrolub SE reported 228 million (U.S. $313 million) in earnings after tax for 2019, down 21 percent from 288 million in 2018.

Belgium-based specialty chemicals distributor Azelisopened a lubricants testing laboratory in Hannover, Germany, in partnership with the Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hannover at the Institute of Machine Construction and Tribology. The facility provides services such as analysis and preliminary formulation tests for creation of dossiers for original equipment manufacturer approvals.
