Iran Gets Creative with Base Oil Exports

United States sanctions have forced Iranian refiners to find alternative export channels for their API Group I base oil to avoid detection and shore up vital export revenues, an executive at an Iranian shipping agency told Lube Report.

Polish consumers rated Valvoline as the best brand of motor oil in 2019, followed by Motul and Liqui Moly, according to a Polish independent automotive publication.

Results Mixed for BP, Up for Liqui Moly

BPs lubricants business reported higher profits for the fourth quarter and lower profits for the full year, attributing the full-year decline mainly to adverse foreign exchange effects. German lubricant and aftermarket additive manufacturer Liqui Moly rebounded from software problems that impacted its half-year results, posting an increase in net sales for the full year.

BP announced Feb. 7 that Tufan Erginbilgic, chief executive of BPs downstream segment, decided he will leave the company at the end of March, and that the company will announce a successor separately. Erginbilgic has been in the position since 2014 leading the segment, which includes the companys global lubricants, fuels and petrochemicals businesses.
