Champion Names Mongolian Distributor


U.S. lubricant producer Champion Oil announced Friday that it has entered an agreement designating Tsengeg Orkhon Co. its distributor in Mongolia. Tsengeg Orkhon operates gold and silver mines industry and is also a distributor of commercial and industrial lubricants.

This may be an emerging market, but its a country with a population of 3.3 million and a solid base of heavy industry, said Karl Dedolph, director of international sales at Champion. The people Ive talked to are very sophisticated in their knowledge of oils and fuels, and they are looking for high-performing products.

Champion, which is based in Clinton, Missouri, has traditionally focused on toll-blending lubricants for other oil marketers in the United States. About four years ago it began branching into Canada and Mexico, and in the past year or two it has targeted numerous other countries around the world.

Were trying to become a global company, Dedolph said. Champion expects to supply Mongolia with a wide range of lubricants mostly for off-road automotive and industrial applications.

Tsengeg Orkhon is based in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar.
