Fuel Supplier NSH Delves into Lubes

A leading fuel retailer in southern Vietnam is dipping its toe into the lubricants business as it searches for ways to continue growing. NSH Petro plans to build a small lube blending plant along with a bio-fuels plant and other facilities on the banks of the Hau River in Mai Dam, in Hau Giang province, southeast of Ho Chi Minh City.

Researchers at two China universities said recently that nano-copper particles show early promise to become part of a new generation of industrial lubricant additives but that greater understanding and direct experimental evidence is still needed.

Eastern Feasted on Base Oil Trading

Eastern Lubricants Blenders Ltd.’s profit jumped more than ten-fold for its fiscal year ended in mid-2021, thanks to a resumption of its sporadic base oil trading activity, according to a recent filing on the Dhaka Stock Exchange. Profits dried up again in the following quarter, however, as prices for base oils rose and its trading of them ceased again.

Sales of four-wheel automobiles in Southeast Asia increased 12% to 287,380 in November, compared to the same month last year, according to Asean Automotive Federation data. Year-to-date sales through November reached 2.5 million, 15% higher than for the same period in 2020.
