Indonesia JV to Supply Palm Catalysts

PT Pertamina Lubricants and two other Indonesian companies have formed a joint venture aimed at developing catalysts that can be used in the processing of palm oil. The companies are hoping that their alliance, PT Katalis Sinergi Indonesia, will develop domestic materials that can help maximize returns from the palm industry.

Earnings Up for S-Oil, Down for SK

Among South Korean base oil refiners, SK Lubricants posted lower operating profit and S-Oil reported much higher operating income for 2020, while both companies had lower sales revenue. SK said that margins improved toward the end of the year thanks to a combination of tight supply and improved demand.

Japan Auto Sales Fell in 2020

New vehicle sales in Japan fell 12% in 2020 to 4.6 million units, according to the Japanese Automobile Manufacturers Association. The decline – in line with a 5.3% drop in the nation’s gross domestic product – extended to motorcycles, too.

PT Pertamina Lubricants signed a cooperation contract for the supply of marine and motorboat lubricants to various motor boat shipping companies in the Banyuwangi area in eastern Java, Indonesia, and surrounding areas. The collaboration also involves PT Indrayasa Migasa, a distributor of Pertamina lubricants, and PT Sarana Sukses Abadi Perkasa, a sub-distributor of Pertamina lubricants services.
