Vehicle Sales Fall in Southeast Asia

Southeast Asian sales and production of automobiles, motorcycles and scooters dropped as much as 10 percent in 2014, and Indonesia overtook Thailand as the largest market for new sales of all of those types of vehicles.

CPC, Partners Enter Vietnam

Taiwans CPC Corp. entered a joint venture with Hexing Chemical and Uni-Shine Chemical Corp. to build a lubricant blending plant in Dong Nai Province, Vietnam, by the end of 2016.

SK and Gulf Both Report Gains

South Koreas SK Lubricants revenue rose marginally in 2014, but its operating profit shot up dramatically from 2013. Indias Gulf Oil Lubricants also made improvements year-over-year in the quarter ending Dec. 31.

JV Builds Rerefinery in Zhuhai

CleanOil Investment and Hong Kong conglomerate Jebsen Group announced last week the formation of a joint venture to build a used lubricant rerefinery in Zhuhai, China.

Repsol Lubricants will supply lubricants in Australia for Erebus Motorsports supercars and provide support from its Melbourne workshop and technical center in Queensland, New Zealand. Shell Lubricants will supply and distribute aftermarket lubricants in China for Daimler Trucks and Buses and also provide training and technical support.
