India’s Base Oil Supply Base Set to Jump

India’s total base oil production capacity is set to jump in the next few years due to expansions by state-owned oil companies, a Hindustan Petroleum official said at an industry event held here last month. Ramachandra Rao said projects by his company and Indian Oil will reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign supply.

Industrial Lube Sales Boost Copton

Chinese lubricants blender Copton Tech Co. reported higher net profit and sales revenue for the quarter ending Sept. 30 last year. A decrease in automotive lube sales was offset by a 44% surge in industrial lubricant sales revenue.

Vietnam Requires Lube Suppliers to Recycle

Vietnam this week enacted an extended producer responsibility law requiring suppliers of lubricants and other materials to take steps to recycle them. Companies have the option of recycling directly, enlisting others to do so or paying into a national environmental protection fund.
