Thailand Picked for Biobased Acids Plant

French biochemical company Afyren and Thai sugar producer Mitr Phol Group will partner to establish a biorefinery in Thailand that produces biobased carboxylic acids used in lubricants and other applications, the companies announced on Thursday.

Malaysia Revises Engine Oil Standards

Malaysia will be revising its engine oil standards to include American Petroleum Institute performance specifications and bench tests requirements. The standard applies to crankcase oils used gasoline and diesel engines, as well as high-speed industrial diesel engines.

China’s Vehicle Registrations Slip in 2022

China’s new motor vehicle registrations – including cars, trucks and motorcycles – declined 5% to 34.8 million in 2022, although the country’s vehicle parc increased 6% to 417 million, according to statistics released earlier this month by a China government ministry.
