Group II 500N Price Index Coming to China

With a price index for API Group II 150 neutral base oils under its belt, the Shanghai Lubricant Trade Association is now in discussion with China National Petroleum Corp. to develop an index for Group II 500N. Individuals working on the index said the work is complicated by the amount of that grade that is imported and by the lack of an obvious reference product.

South Korean Base Oil Exports Down in June

South Korea exported 5% less base oil than in the same month of last year, and the reported value of those exports dropped 24%, a government agency reported. The country imports far less base oil, but that number made a big proportional jump in June.
