Nigerian energy company Ardova Plc has opened a sparkling new lubricant blending plant in Apapa, a district of the capital Lagos.

Nigeria’s lubricants market is roughly 550 million liters per year and is occupied by the usual roster of global companies, such as Shell and Castrol, and numerous domestic players. It’s the largest economy in Africa and has a growing population of 223 million people, ensuring a decent-sized market for most applications.

Ardova aims to meet growing domestic demand for lubricants. The company claims the new plant has capacity to make 150 million liters per year of finished lubricants, or 135,000 metric tons, and storage capacity of 14 million liters.

The plant has been installed with inventory management systems to reduce the risk of stockouts and to ensure product availability, the company said.

“This facility is future-proof, allowing us to produce more, store more and ensure our distributors have seamless access to our products,” Ardova Managing Director Moshood Olajide said in a press release.
