D-A Lubricant Co. plans to invest $17 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Lebanon, Indiana, adding a 115,000-square-foot facility and new automated processing equipment.
The privately owned lubricant manufacturer is seeking approval for the project from local authorities, according to reports from Indiana media. The expansion is expected to strengthen D-A’s production capabilities at its headquarters in Boone County, where the company manufactures automotive, heavy-duty and industrial lubricants.
The planned investment includes construction of a new building dedicated to grease production, along with automated equipment intended to increase manufacturing efficiency and capacity. The project represents another significant expansion of D-A’s Lebanon operations, which have grown substantially since the company moved its headquarters to the city.
D-A currently operates from an 801 Edwards Drive facility in Lebanon. The company describes its portfolio as including heavy-duty and passenger-car engine oils, transmission lubricants, greases, gear lubricants, hydraulic oils, antifreeze and specialty and industrial products. Its brands include PennGrade and WearGuard.
The company’s latest investment follows a series of expansions at the Lebanon site. In 2017, D-A announced a $4.6 million investment in a new production line at its then 250,000-square-foot facility. At the time, the company said the project would support continued growth in lubricant production.
D-A has also expanded its manufacturing footprint outside Indiana. In March 2025, the company acquired Crystal Packaging, a contract blending and packaging business in Henderson, Colorado. The operation was subsequently renamed D-A Packaging LLC, bringing about 40 employees into the D-A organization and giving the lubricant manufacturer additional blending and packaging capabilities in the western United States.
The Colorado acquisition formed part of a broader effort to increase D-A’s manufacturing and service capabilities. D-A Packaging provides blending, packaging, warehousing and distribution services for products ranging from bottles and cartons to pails, drums, totes and bulk transport.
D-A traces its history to 1919 and has built a particular presence in the automotive and performance-lubricant markets through its PennGrade brands. The company has also maintained a strong connection with motorsports, including a former sponsorship of the Indianapolis 500.
The new Lebanon project adds to that manufacturing base at a time when lubricant producers are investing in automation, specialized blending and packaging capabilities to support increasingly diverse product portfolios.
For D-A, the $17 million investment would represent one of its largest disclosed expansions at its Indiana headquarters and would give the company additional dedicated capacity for grease production alongside its existing lubricant manufacturing operations.
