Quaker in China

Quaker Houghton has opened a 30,000-square-meter manufacturing facility in Zhangjiagang, China, expanding local production to meet demand across the Asia-Pacific region.

The plant adds production capacity for die-casting fluids and greases used in industries including steel, aluminum, automotive, beverage can manufacturing, mining and wind power. The company also completed an expansion of its Shanghai research and development laboratory in June.

The Zhangjiagang project represents an investment of 576 million yuan. Construction began in July 2024 and was completed in June 2026. The facility incorporates digital manufacturing, automation and intelligent production systems.

The additional capacity is intended to support demand for die-casting fluids used in electric vehicles, aluminum components and lightweight vehicle manufacturing. It also expands grease production for heavy-duty applications requiring resistance to high temperatures, water and extreme pressure in sectors such as wind power, mining, steel, automotive and construction equipment.

Lubrizol Also in China

Lubrizol and Zhejiang Kuaizhun Auto Service Network Technology Co. Ltd. have signed the S Plan cooperation agreement to develop premium lubricant solutions tailored to China’s changing vehicle operating conditions.

The partnership brings together additive technology, product development, manufacturing and service network insights. Lubrizol will provide additive technology and formulation expertise, while Kuaizhun Auto Service will contribute data and feedback from its nationwide network of repair shops and vehicle owners. Unified Lubricants, Kuaizhun’s long-term supplier, will manufacture the products and oversee quality control and supply

The companies said China’s congested roads, stop-and-go driving and growing hybrid vehicle fleet are increasing demands on lubricants for wear protection, engine cleanliness, oxidation resistance and durability, making real-world operating conditions a greater influence on product development. Kuaizhun Auto Service operates more than 2,300 service stations across China, serving more than 300,000 repair businesses.

Lanxess to Make Fire-proof Hydraulic Fluids in India

Lanxess will begin producing fire-resistant hydraulic fluids at its Jhagadia plant in India, following the recent inauguration of the manufacturing site. The products will supply customers in India, the Middle East and other international markets. The move expands local production of the company’s Reolube phosphate ester-based fire-resistant hydraulic fluids, which are used in applications where fire safety is important. Lanxess said the investment supports growing demand driven by expansion in power generation, data centers and AI-related infrastructure.

The Jhagadia production facility is part of the company’s broader investment in India. It follows the opening of an Application Development Center in Thane, which provides technical support for customers in the region. Lanxess said the new production capability will improve product availability and supply reliability while strengthening its manufacturing and technical presence in India. The company said the investment supports customers across India, the Middle East and other export markets.
