Liquid Moly Anti-counterfeit Measure

Liqui Moly has rolled out a product authentication system for its motor oils that allows customers to verify products by scanning a QR code on the container cap with a smartphone. Developed with authentic.network, the technology is being introduced in around 150 countries. The companies said the system is designed to help combat counterfeit products and improve traceability across global supply chains, a growing concern in the lubricants and automotive aftermarket sectors. Each container is assigned a unique digital identity that can be checked throughout the distribution chain and by end users.

The authentication technology is integrated into standard printing processes and does not require additional hardware, special inks or NFC chips. Liqui Moly said the move supports its goal of improving visibility across its supply chain, while both companies noted that increasing regulatory requirements, including the European Union’s planned Digital Product Passport, are driving demand for greater product transparency and traceability.

HPCL Says Tata to Wasting Oil

Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. and Tata Motors have signed an agreement to test a system for collecting and recycling used automotive lubricants in India. The project is designed to support India’s Extended Producer Responsibility rules and improve the handling of used lubricants, which are classified as hazardous waste. The aim is to create a tracked collection and recycling process that converts used oil into re-refined base oil.

Under the arrangement, HPCL will manage the collection and transport of used lubricants through approved channels to registered recyclers. Tata Motors will use its service network to collect used oil and encourage proper disposal. The pilot will operate in selected states under the oversight of a joint committee from both companies.

Tube Grease from Engen

Engen has expanded its lubricant portfolio with a new grease tubes range, introducing tube packaging for three grease products aimed at automotive, industrial and general maintenance applications. The range includes Engen CV Joint Grease, Engen Wheel Bearing Grease and Engen General Purpose Grease. The products are formulated for different uses, including constant-velocity joints, wheel bearings, water-pump bearings, boat trailers and general lubrication tasks. All are designed to provide protection against conditions such as moisture, corrosion and heavy loading.

According to Graham, the tube-and-nozzle design helps reduce contamination from dirt and moisture while making storage and application cleaner and more convenient. The products will be sold through selected Engen service stations, automotive aftermarket outlets, retailers and authorized lubricant distributors across the country.
