Developed in response to market demand, Cargill has introduced its new Priolube™ 3982 high viscosity ester for industrial gear oil applications, providing a bio-based* alternative to conventional Polyalphaolefin (PAO) thickeners.
Launched earlier this year, the latest addition to Cargill’s expansive synthetic ester portfolio boasts 83% bio-based* content and reduces required thickener treat rate by 25% compared to PAO 100 (Figure 1) – all without sacrificing viscosity, durability, or performance.

Cargill’s innovative shear stable complex ester helps formulators create gear oils capable of performing in tough environments and provides long-term protection under severe mechanical stress.
Priolube™ 3982 ester offers excellent shear stability and oxidation resistance to protect the lifespan of machinery and reduce downtime. With 15% lower traction than PAO 100 (Figure 2) in iso-viscous formulations, it also improves power transmission and lowers energy losses.

Now available globally, Priolube™ 3982 ester is the ideal choice for formulators wanting a more efficient, cost-effective, and bio-based* solution for industrial gear oil applications.
