Pentas Flora Japan RRBO Expansion

Malaysian waste management company and rerefiner Pentas Flora will supply rerefined API Group II+ and Group III base oils to Japan, formalizing its entry into one of the world’s most technically demanding lubricant markets.

Japan’s advanced manufacturing base and rigorous performance standards present a high bar for rerefiners targeting premium applications. The move aligns with the country’s Green Transformation policy framework, which promotes decarbonization across supply chains, including lubricants and specialty fluids.

Pentas Flora says its rerefining technology can reduce carbon emissions by up to 81% compared with virgin base oil production. Its RRBO is certified under the Singapore Environment Council’s Singapore Green Label Scheme and Malaysia’s MyHIJAU Mark, administered by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation—third-party validations increasingly required by multinational OEMs and industrial buyers.

Operations will be coordinated through Pentas Flora Japan, based in Saitama, providing localized technical support, documentation and logistics integration with domestic blending networks.

Managing Director Lim Aik Fu said the expansion reflects a cradle-to-cradle model that converts used motor oil into high-grade base stocks, helping customers reduce Scope 3 emissions—indirect value-chain greenhouse gases that often account for more than 70% of a company’s total carbon footprint.

Hidekazu Maruyama, chairman of TRIBO Japan, said the partnership will focus on communicating verified product performance while advancing sustainable lubrication practices as Japan tightens environmental benchmarks
