Cosmo Oil Lubricants Co. Ltd. said it has overhauled its Cosmo Fillio engine oil series sold mainly through Cosmo service stations across Japan. The updated oils are comply with the SQ/GF-7 API and ILSAC standard that took effect in March 2025 and are fully synthetic with key certification test requirements. The company said the oils support improved fuel efficiency, help prevent low-speed preignition, reduce timing chain wear and provide stable protection for direct-injection engines under varied driving conditions. Cosmo also launched Cosmo Fillio 0W-8, an ultra-low viscosity oil developed to meet fuel economy needs of next-generation vehicles in Japan though it is outside the SQ/GF-7 standard. The full series includes seven viscosity grades and is offered mainly in 20-liter pails and 200-liter drums.
