Chinese additive company Richful named Básicos y Aditivos S.A. de C.V., or BAISA, its exclusive distributor for Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, effective immediately, the company announced on social media. The partnership gives Richful direct access to Latin American markets that have long relied on Western suppliers.
One of China’s largest lubricant additive suppliers, Richful serves the automotive, industrial and marine sectors. Its push into Latin America reflects rising regional demand for higher-quality, competitively priced additives and aligns with the company’s broader expansion in Asia, the Middle East and North America.
The deal underscores shifting dynamics in a market traditionally dominated by the Big Four: Infineum, Afton Chemical, Chevron Oronite and Lubrizol.
Richful aims to grow share through competitive pricing, local technical support and added production capacity. It is investing to expand component and package output, part of a plan to offer complete additive packages and strengthen its global footprint by 2026.
The company operates plants in Xinxiang and Cangzhou with combined annual capacity of more than 200,000 metric tons, producing more than 200 products including sulfonate detergents, ashless dispersants and full additive packages. Recent projects added 60,000 tons of component capacity and 12,800 tons per year of package output, while retrofits in Xinxiang support the shift from components to full packages.
BAISA, founded in 2020 and based in Tlalnepantla de Baz, Mexico, distributes base oils and additives and provides formulation expertise, regulatory guidance and quality control through an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.
