The Technical Association of the European Lubricants Industry (ATIEL) launched two new resources designed to help lubricant marketers comply with European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association engine oil sequences.

The new resources – an auditor checklist and a process flowchart – are intended to strengthen quality management systems across the supply chain and consistent compliance with the European Engine Lubricant Quality Management System.

“Through education, engagement and support we can help lubricant marketers produce consistent finished lubricants that are compliant with the ACEA engine oil sequences,” said Marco Digioia, president of ATIEL, in a press release.

The checklist helps lubricant marketers comply with the ATIEL Code of Practice on Auditing and Assessment. It can also be used by both external quality management auditors as part of their regular review and internal auditors to ensure continued compliance with the framework, says ATIEL.

The process flowchart is intended as a self-reference tool for marketers to support the entire quality management production process of finished lubricants.

Michael Boyer, director of the Standards and Auditing Independent Liaison, which oversees compliance monitoring, welcomed the launch.

“These tools are a step forward in providing support to lubricant marketers by aligning with the quality management frameworks that finished lubricants are produced within, ensuring that end users can rely on the performance claims of products making claims against the ACEA engine oil sequences,” he said.

Both tools are available for download from ATIEL’s website.
