Fuchs Group bought IRMCO Advanced Metalforming Lubricant Technologies, an Illinois-based family-run company founded more than a century ago. With the purchase, Fuchs aims to expand its industrial product range with this acquisition, providing sustainable lubrication solutions in various markets
Buying IRMCO is another in an steady stream of acquisitions that have included PolySi Technologies, an Illinois-based silicone lubricant company in 2020, Swedish lubricant company Gleitmo Technik in 2021, Swiss lubricant company Strub, and Boss and Lubcon from Germany in 2024.
Headquartered in Mannheim, Germany, Fuchs is the largest independent lubricant supplier in the world, a ranking it achieved through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth.
“Integrating with Fuchs will further our reach of products to the metal forming, assembly, cleaning, and finishing markets through the global Fuchs network,” said Jeff Jeffery, the CEO of IRMCO, in a press release.
The effect of the announcement was a slight dip in Fuchs’ share price, which is currently trading at €40.70, 10% down from the day of the announcement.
The deal was approved and finalized by both parties, a Fuchs spokesperson told Lube Report, but the financial terms were undisclosed.
