U.S. Base Oil Demand Slumps, Exports Soar

Domestic base oil demand in the United States has steadily declined over the past two years, pushing suppliers to boost exports in order to keep the market from being oversupplied, industry analysts told delegates at the ICIS Pan American Base Oils and Lubricants Conference in early December.

Lubrizol India is on a hiring spree. The company is looking for 600 employees to staff its growing operations in the country, where it has said it will spend U.S.$350 million on new production facilities. Lubrizol Corp. announced plans to build a $200 million factory in India to make chemical additives for lubricants and automotive and industrial fluids.

Saneg Oil Italy, a lubricants operator owned by Uzbek energy company Saneg, has started exporting lubricants to Portugal. The local distributor Portuguese Lubrifuel took consignment of 27 tons of motor oils, industrial oils and greases.

Enso Oils & Lubricants is now the official Indian distributor of Gazpromneft-Lubricants’ G-Energy brand.

Liqui Moly launch its new Special Tec T generalist motor oils for the Australian market. The range was designed and formulated in Germany and produced in Thailand. Producing the oils in Thailand reduces costs for Australian customers.
