ILSAC GF-7 Sent to Ballot

ILSAC GF-7, the next pair of industry performance specifications for engine oils used in conventional light-duty vehicles, has been sent to ballot by the Auto/Oil Advisory Panel, opening a period for public comment.

U.S. Base Oil Output Fell in 2023

Base oil production in the United States decreased 6% in 2023, while production in December experienced a 7% uptick in volume, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported on Feb. 29.

Saudi Aramco completed the acquisition – first announced in September 2023 – of a 100% equity stake in Chilean lubricant blender, distributor and retailer Esmax Distribuscion SpA.

Calgary, Canada-based Boss Lubricants will distribute TotalEnergies’ lubricant products – including European automaker-approved oils – in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Yukon under a five-year commercial partnership signed with Total Energies Marketing Canada Inc.

Univar Solutions Brasil Ltda., a subsidiary of Univar Solutions LLC, announced a new distribution agreement with Arxada for biocides, preservatives and performance additives used in a variety of industrial applications. The agreement strengthens Univar Solutions’ product offerings in Brazil’s paints, coatings and lubricants markets.
