Lubrizol Partners to Make Separations Membranes

Lubrizol Corp. said last week that it will partner with Solecta Inc. to develop and market novel membranes for the separations industry. The tie-up follows Lubrizol’s September announcement that it was entering the separations industry, the latest in a line of diversification moves by the lubricant additive supplier.

Wind Energy Growth Slows in U.S.

The United States wind energy industry completed projects that brought 8,612 megawatts of new capacity online last year, a 32% decline from 12,747 MW in 2021 and the lowest level the industry has experienced since 2018, according to a market report by a national trade association that represents the renewable energy industry in the U.S.

Two-wheeler Sales Jump in Brazil

Retail sales and production of motorcycles in Brazil both increased by 18% in 2022, according to survey results released last month by the Brazilian Association of Motorcycle, Moped, Scooter, Bicycle and Similar Manufacturers. Improvements were largely due to the segment resuming growth after a rough initial two months last year attributed to COVID-19 pandemic impacts.

Ingevity Corp. announced a general 10% price increase effective April 1 for specialty grades of tall oil fatty acid, citing continued supply and demand imbalance. The North Charleston, South Carolina-based company supplies the acid to the lubricant and metalworking fluid markets.  Univar Solutions Inc. was appointed exclusive distributor of Automate oil-based dyes and an authorized distributor of water-based dyes, for lubricants and metalworking fluids customers in the United States under an agreement with Milliken & Co.
