U.S. Base Oil Output Rebounds in August

United States base oil production jumped 18% in August, marking the first year-on-year increase in production volume since January. Total base oil output rose despite an 11% decrease in naphthenic base oil production.

Revenue, Waste Oil Volume Fall for Safety-Kleen

Clean Harbors reported a challenging third quarter for its Safety-Kleen segment – which includes waste oil collection and rerefining and finished lubricants – saying plant problems played a role in decreases in revenue and waste oil collection.

Brazil Base Oil Production, Imports Both Fall

Brazil’s base oil production plummeted 51%, and the country’s base oil imports volume fell 23% in September, according to government agency data released yesterday. Through the first nine months of the year, domestic production is down just 2%.
