U.S. Base Oil Imports, Exports Up in April

Base oil exports from the United States rose 11%, and imports increased 18% in April, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Exports to Mexico, Chile, Panama, the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria all jumped by triple-digit percentages.

Engine Oil Exports from the U.S. Rose in 2022

United States exports of automotive, diesel and marine engine oils increased 18% in 2022, while imports of the same products climbed 38%, according to data tracked by the U.S. International Trade Commission. The federal agency advises the legislative and executive branches on trade matters.

Another Lithium Project Planned in Canada

Avalon Advanced Materials and Metso Corp. reached a memorandum of understanding this week to develop a lithium hydroxide production facility in the Canadian province of Ontario – primarily to provide battery cathode material for electric vehicles.

George Mock III retired last month as president of Nye Lubricants after nearly 40 years of working at the Fairhaven, Massachusetts-based company. The synthetic lubricants blender was a family-owned business and run by the Mock family for three generations before it was acquired by Germany-based Fuchs Group in 2020.
