U.S. Base Oil Output Remains High

The United States produced 5.5 million barrels of base oil in September, topping the same month in 2020 by 23% and nearly matching the October 2019 total, according to the latest data from the federal Energy Information Administration. It was the fifth consecutive month that the base oil total topped the 5.4 million barrels mark.

Petrobras Updates on Lubnor, GasLub

Petrobras said last week that it still intends to move forward with two initiatives that would alter the country’s base oil supply base – the sale of its Lubnor refinery and construction of an API Group II base oil plant – though the projects appear hardly advanced in the past year.

Brazil Base Oils Stay Ahead of 2020

Base oil production in Brazil in October was more than 20% higher than in the same month last year, the third consecutive month that year-over-year totals were at least that much higher, while the country’s base oil exports skyrocketed more than 270% .
