North Americas auto and oil industries could begin work as early as next year on their next heavy-duty engine oil category, aiming to adopt PC-12 by 2027, an engine industry official told the ASTM D02 meeting last week in Atlanta.

Mexico Ups Motor Oil Standards

Starting next year, passenger car and heavy-duty diesel engine oils sold in Mexico will be required to meet standards that minimize oil degradation, reduce emissions and increase drain intervals. Lubricant data collection company Olyslager opened its first North American office in Naperville, Illinois last week. Denver, Colorado-based West Direct Oil Co. signed an agreement to acquire the Southwest U.S. commercial business assets of Southern Counties Oil Co., headquartered in Orange, California. West Direct Oil will now supply businesses in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada with fuels, lubricants and chemicals.
