Briefly Noted
September 3, 2025Seqens introduced Sulfad 1529E, an extreme pressure additive now listed on the Lubricant Substance Classification (LuSC) list. The LuSC list identifies substances reviewed for biodegradability, aquatic toxicity, renewability and exclusion criteria and is a reference for lubricants eligible for European Ecolabel certification. Sulfad 1529E is recommended for medium- to heavy-duty metalworking applications and grease formulations. It is a sulfurized mixture of natural fatty acid esters that is non-copper corrosive. The additive offers solubility in API Group I, II and III base stocks, as well as in some naphthenic base stocks, subject to verification in finished products. Seqens’ additional additives Sulfad 1710E and 1711E are also listed on the LuSC list and designed for similar applications.

TotalEnergies said the project supports Vietnam’s energy transition and advances the company’s global target of net-zero emissions by 2050. In June this year, environmental groups took TotalEnergies to court, accusing the company of “misleading consumers with ads that overstate its climate commitments and fossil fuel transition,” according to French media reports. Earlier in the year, the U.K. advertising regulator had TotalEnergies pull advertising that it ruled was also misleading.
