An explosion at Turkish refinery Tupras injured 12 people. The incident happened during maintenance of a compressor.
A fire broke out but was brought under control and wounded workers were taken to a local hospital. Their injuries were not life threatening.
News broadcasts showed a column of smoke rising from a part of the site.
Operations at the refinery continued without disruption, said Tupras in a statement, including the base oil unit.
Tupras is Turkey’s only group one refiner with is capacity to produce 400,000 tons per year.
