Pilot Chemical Co. announced last week that it plans to relocate corporate offices from three U.S. locations to Cincinnati, site of its primary manufacturing operations. The company, which also restructured its corporate management, said the move will make operations more efficient.

The specialty chemical company said it will transfer 28 executive, commercial, technical and finance positions – mostly from Santa Fe Springs, Calif., its existing headquarters, plus a few from both Red Bank, N.J., and Houston. The movement has already begun and is scheduled to be completed by Jan. 1.

Pilot believes the improved communication, coordination and efficiency resulting from these changes will lead to improved processes across all functions and move Pilot closer to its goal of world class customer satisfaction, the company said in an Aug. 1 announcement.

Officials said Cincinnati was the logical place to concentrate because the companys two largest factories are in the Cincinnati area and because the city is centrally located to service a majority of its customers and to coordinate with suppliers.

The corporate restructuring has installed three new vice presidents under Paul Morrisroe, who will retain his posts of president and chief executive officer. Susan Leslie is vice president of operations, while Glynn Goertzen is vice president of commercial and Matthew Bray takes charge of finance and administration.

Vice President ofMarketing NeilA. Burns is no longer with the company. He told Lube Report he plans tostay in the specialty chemical industry but has not yet taken a new position. At this point, Im considering a couple possible tracks, but I would expect lube additives to be at least a part of my next step, hesaid.

A privately owned company, Pilot supplies synthetic sulfonates, sulfates, sulfonic acids and surfactants to the lubricants industry and to other markets such as household and industrial cleaners, personal care products and textiles.
