Warren Oil Co. last week announced the addition of Spencer Oil Co. to its network of Coastal Lubricant distributors. On Jan. 11, Spencer Oil Co. signed and returned to Warren Oil a contract to represent the Coastal brand of lubricants in eastern Michigan and the northwest corner of Ohio.

Roseville, Mich.-based Spencer Oil Co. has been in the lubricants business in eastern Michigan for more than 30 years. Spencer will market and distribute the full line of Coastal lubricants from Bay City south through Lansing, and down to the Ohio border, including the greater Toledo area. Coastal brand lubricants offerings include motor oils, transmission fluids, hydraulic oils, gear oils, tractor fluids, brake fluid, greases, and power steering fluids.

Most of the Coastal lubricants well be distributing through Warren Oil will be passenger car motor oils, diesel motor oils, hydraulic oils and a few other products that they carry, Spencer Oil President Thom Spencer told Lube Report. This offered us an opportunity to work with a very good company, offering products that have great specifications and a price we think is very competitive. In this economy, I think thats just what people are looking for.

The company distributes to a wide range of customers, Spencer said, including truck stops, automotive dealerships, large fleets such as municipalities and school districts, and through large commercial accounts. We support a lot of tier I and tier II type of situations that would be direct with the car companies in a lot of cases, he added.

The company, which has been in eastern Michigan since 1976, carries a full line of BP and Castrol lubricants, including lubricants for the construction and farming communities, industrial process oils, paraffin waxes and food grade products. In addition, it offers coolants for metalworking, grinding and boring, hydraulic oils, spindle oils, slide way oils, mineral oils and mineral spirits, along with gear oils and greases.

Dunn, N.C.-based Warren Oil Co. in 2003 acquired Coastal Unilube, now its Warren Unilube subsidiary, which manufactures theCoastal-branded lubricants.
