Infineum opened a research and development center in Shanghai, China, last week, as part of its growth plan for the Asia-Pacific region.
The facility, known as Infineums China Business and Technology Center(CBTC), will serve as the United Kingdom-based additive manufactures technology hub for supporting expansion in the Asia-Pacific and enhancing collaboration between Infineum and its regional customers.
The three-story, 4,500 square meter complex has research and development laboratories in addition to offices.
The CBTC is located in Jinqiao, Shanghai, which is around 160 kilometers southeast of the Zhangjiagang Industrial Park in the Jiangsu province, where Infineum recently broke ground on a lubricant additive manufacturing complex. That facility is scheduled to come online by late 2015.
Our [business and technology center] project has been completed on time and on budget, and is a testament to the hard work of our team in China together with global support, Infineum China Managing Director Fu Limin said in a recent press release. The location of Shanghai and Jinqiao in particular was a natural choice for Infineum. As well as being located close to many of our customers, suppliers and engine manufacturers, the central coastal region of China offers excellent transport links to other parts of the country and sits within an area rich in talent and expertise.
Based in Milton Hill, U.K., Infineum is a joint venture between ExxonMobil and Shell that was established in 1999. Infineum formulates, manufactures and markets lubricant and fuel additives throughout the world.
