Malaysias The Otomotif College recently signed a sponsorship deal with the countrys largest custom and private grease manufacturer, Toyo Lubrication Sdn Bhd.

The three-year sponsorship of RM500,000 (U.S. $153,000) will have Toyo Lubrication training students in the technical knowledge of lubricants and providing input into TOCs teaching syllabi.

Under the terms of the memorandum of understanding, Toyo Lubrication will provide a complete range of products like engine oil, degreaser, coolant, greases, gear oil and transmission, brake and power steering fluids for its training workshops.

Toyo Lubrication will also sponsor new equipment for TOCs training workshops including a transparent engine simulator, coolant and brake fluid tester and lubricant bay equipment such as engine oil flushing machine, oil collector and washing bay.

This is our first collaboration with a local lubricant manufacturer and will bring about a lot of details about the lubricant business not found in textbooks, as well as inside business stories, said Adelaine Foo, founder and chief cxecutive officer of TOC. Unlike other lubricant companies with a marketing perspective, by being involved in education in the long term, Toyo will be able to build brand loyalty, although the impact may not be immediate, Foo told Lube Report Asia.

Toyo Lubrication has been expanding its market overseas while building its brand, said Eddy Choong, founder and director of Toyo Lubrication. The company set up a marketing office in Australia last year and has plans to expand to Indonesia. We are still looking for reliable partners to work [with] and [promote] the brand name to the rest of the world, especially in Southeast Asia, said Choong.

Toyo Lubrication, based in Semenyih, in the state of Selangor, Malaysia, is a contract-manufacturer with a capacity to produce 7,200 metric tons of grease per year.
