Infineum announced this month that it has begun constructing a research and development center at its headquarters in Milton Hill, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.

The chemical additive company did not disclose the size or exact price tag but said it will cost multiple millions of British pounds; that it will include laboratories, meeting spaces and a restaurant; and that it will employ 80 people.

Officials said the new facilities, which will add to existing laboratories at the site, will help Infineum continue finding ways to meet lubricant performance demands.

Technology leadership in our global marketplace is critical to our success, CEO Trevor Russell said in a press release. This new extension to our existing facilities at Milton Hill will enable even higher levels of collaboration and innovation which in turn will lead to even better products being developed for our customers.

The new facilities are scheduled to be finished in mid-2019.

Infineum is one of the worlds four main suppliers of lubricant additive packages. In the past couple decades, those companies have assumed much of the responsibility in the lubricant industry for product formulation.
