Vertex Expands Group III Portfolio with VTX-R6

Vertex Energy Inc. has added VTX-R6, a 6 centiStoke API Group III rerefined base oil to its base oil lineup. The launch follows VTX-R4 and gives blenders a higher-viscosity option for formulating heavier finished lubricants. Based in Houston, Texas, Vertex Energy refines base oils and fuels and operates one of the largest used motor oil collection and processing networks in the United States, with capacity of more than 115 million gallons a year. Its main assets include a 75,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Mobile, Alabama, which produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and Group III base oils, and a re-refinery in Marrero, Louisiana. Vertex also runs the Heartland facility in Ohio, which produces Group II+ base oils. For VTX-R6, the company uses a split-site process. Used motor oil is first processed into vacuum gas oil at the Marrero facility, then the VGO is upgraded into Group III base oils at the Mobile refinery.

Exxon and Infosys Collaboration Deepens

Infosys said it has expanded its collaboration with ExxonMobil to develop and deploy ExxonMobil Data Center Immersion Fluids for data centres, aimed at improving energy efficiency and making better use of available power. Infosys, an IT services and consulting company based in Bengaluru, India, said the initiative builds on its work in energy innovation and decarbonization. The companies plan to combine ExxonMobil’s immersion fluids with Infosys Topaz, its generative AI-based services and platforms, and Infosys Cobalt, a suite of cloud services and tools. Infosys said the collaboration will focus on high-efficiency cooling systems for growing artificial intelligence and high-performance computing workloads. Topaz will be used to optimize cooling operations in real time, including energy use, predictive maintenance and infrastructure management. Cobalt will provide the cloud and data centre platform for deploying the solutions. Infosys said it will also target hyper-scalers, large enterprises and public-sector organizations across sectors including financial services, telecoms, manufacturing, energy and government.

Infineum to Instal Solar at Colonge Site

Deutsche Infineum GmbH & Co. KGerman unit of U.K.-based additive company Infineum, the G and RheinEnergie AG have agreed to build an 18-megawatt ground-mounted solar installation at Infineum’s site in Cologne, Germany. The facility is expected to generate about 18 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year and is scheduled to come online in 2027. Around 25,300 solar modules, each rated at 710 watts, will be installed across roughly 12 hectares on Neusser Landstraße. The site is expected to produce enough surplus electricity each year to supply several thousand households. Infineum said the project will cut CO₂ emissions at its Cologne production site compared with conventional power supply.
