Superior, Wisconsin-based Amsoil Inc. acquired fellow Wisconsin lube blender Benz Oil, the companies announced on Monday. The move expands Amsoil’s portfolio of lubricant and metalworking fluid production capabilities.

Benz Oil, headquartered in Milwaukee, makes cutting and grinding metalworking fluids, process fluids, heat-transfer fluids and other specialty fluids.

The company’s facilities, including its sales, oil analysis laboratory, and manufacturing and distribution sites, will be rebranded under the Amsoil name. It has one of the largest on-site raw-materials storage facilities in the Midwest, the company claims.

Founded in 1898, Benz Oil will be part of Amsoil’s Industrial which serves large customers in the metal stamping, plastic injection molding, power generation sectors, as well as manufacturers of construction equipment. Amsoil launched Amsoil Industrial in 2021 as a new business unit dedicated to serving large business-to-business customers through a corporate sales team.

“Bringing the Benz team and facilities onboard as part of Amsoil Industrial immediately boosts our capabilities and expertise with industrial fluids,” Amsoil Chairman and CEO Alan Amatuzio said in a May 8 press release.

Amsoil makes synthetic lubricants for passenger car, heavy-duty vehicles and motorcycles, among other applications. Its product portfolio includes motor oils, transmission fluids, gear oils and hydraulic oils.
