Brazil Base Oils Flat in November

Brazil produced 46,000 metric tons of base oil in November, close to flat compared to the same month of 2021. Meanwhile imported base oil volume dropped 27%, according to data released by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels.

Domestic production in November of 2021 was 47,000 tons. The 46,000 tons mark was the same as in three previous months last year – April, May and September.

Year-to-date through November, Brazil’s base oil production decreased to 473,000 tons, compared to 506,000 tons for the same period in 2021.

Brazil imported 67,000 tons of base oil in November, compared to 92,000 tons. Sequentially, November’s volume was a 31% drop from October’s 97,000 tons in imports.

The volume of base oil exported from January through November dropped 26% to 712,000 tons, compared to 968,000 tons.

Base oil exports from Brazil decreased to 7,000 tons in November, a 17% decline from 8,000 tons.
