Lubrizol Corp. has found a permanent CEO and president, plucking Rebecca Liebert from PPG Industries to fill positions that had been held on an interim basis for nearly six months.
The lubricant additive supplier, which is headquartered in Wickliffe, Ohio, announced Liebert’s appointment in a Sept. 1 news release. She succeeds Mary Rhinehart, the company’s board of directors chairwoman who took over the additional posts when former CEO and President Chris Brown departed in March.
When Rhinehart became CEO and President in March, the company said the appointments were temporary and that she was leading a search for a permanent appointment.
Liebert joined PPG, a global paints and coatings supplier, in 2018 to head the company’s automotive OEM coatings business and departed as executive vice president with responsibility for the global industrial segment, oversight of Asia-Pacific and functional responsibility for global procurement, resin and industrial segment manufacturing.
Previously Liebert was president and CEO of Honeywell UOP, a leading international supplier to the petroleum refining, gas processing, petrochemical production and major manufacturing industries. Prior to joining Honeywell, was president of Reynolds Food Packaging.
Liebert is Lubrizol’s fourth president and CEO in just over a year. Brown came on in August 2021 to succeed Eric Schnur, who had been president, CEO and board chairman for more than four years. Brown joined Lubrizol after a rough period that included major fires at factories in France and Illinois in 2019 and June 2021, respectively.
Brown formed his own investment firm after leaving Lubrizol.
