Fuchs Petrolub SE has merged two subsidiaries in Germany – Fuchs Schmierstoffe GmbH and Fuchs Lubritech GmbH – to form a single business in its home country. The new entity is Fuchs Lubricants Germany, which is headquartered in Mannheim.
Fuchs Schmierstoffe, the larger of the two former entities, focused on making and selling automotive and industrial finished lubricants in Germany, along with other countries, while Fuchs Lubritech produced and supplied specialty lubes in Germany and a number of foreign countries, including France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, Japan and Australia.
The parent company, which is the world’s largest independent lube supplier, said the new business generated sales revenue of €940 million (U.S. $1.1 billion) in 2021. It operates seven factories in Germany – in Mannheim, Kaiserslautern, Bremen, Dohna, Hamburg, Kiel and Wedel – and has 1,400 employees.
Officials said the move will allow the company to focus on certain segments of the German market while optimizing the strengths of the sales forces of each former business.
Officials added that the change was also a step in its Fuchs2025 strategy, adopted in 2019. Among the main goals of the strategy is to grow fastest in the Americas and Asia-Pacific so as to bring its business into better regional balance.
In 2021 the company’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa generated revenue of €1.7 billion, compared to €855 million in Asia-Pacific and €471 million in the Americas.
