Goodyear Enters India Lube Market

Goodyear announced Wednesday that it reached an agreement for an India-based company to manufacture and market automotive lubricants in the country under the tire giant’s brand name.

Under the agreement, Assurance International Ltd. will manufacture, source and distribute Goodyear-branded lubricants to complement the American company’s tire offering in India.

The press release said the lubricant portfolio will include a full range of lubes for cars, trucks, two-wheelers and tractors, including greases, transmissions oils, tractor lubes, gear oils and hydraulic fluids, as well as brake fluids. The products are scheduled to be launched in November.

The press release, which was co-issued by Assurance, said the Indian company will be responsible for distribution and marketing and will offer customer assistance to consumers. Assurance is based in Gurgaon, in the northern state of Haryana. It was founded in 2017 and is part of real estate developer Satya Group. Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is one of the world’s largest tire suppliers. It employs approximately 63,000 people and manufactures its products in 46 facilities in 21 countries around the world. Although best-known for its tires, the company’s Pennsylvania, U.S.-based Goodyear Lubricants business offers passenger car and heavy duty motor oil, transmission fluid, gear oil and hydraulic oil.
