Exol Lubricants has received Scanias Low Ash approval for its Taurus Euro FE 5W-30 engine oil. Taurus Euro FE 5W-30 is a fully synthetic engine oil that the company says can improve fuel economy by 2 percent. The oil is compatible with aftertreatment devices such as diesel particulate filters and selective catalytic reduction units. Taurus Euro FE 5W-30 can be used in trucks, buses and off-highway equipment.

Cylinder Oil for Low-S Fuels
Castrol has launched Cyltech ACT, a cylinder oil for vessels operating in Emissions Control Areas (ECAs) using low sulfur fuels, including LNG. The lubricant utilizes Ash Control Technology (ACT), which the company says minimizes the risk of ash build up, thereby protecting critical engine parts. Cyltech ACT has a base number of 16 and is claimed to create 30 percent less ash than a 25 BN oil while also maintaining ring-zone cleanliness. The new lubricant joins existing products within the Cyltech range, including Cyltech 70 and Cyltech 100. It will be available in Singapore, ARA and key U.S. ports by the end of Q1 2016 with other countries and ports following throughout 2016.

Nanoparticles Reinforce Grease
Nanotech Industrial Solutions Inc. has launched NanoLub grease product family, a range of fully formulated lithium complex greases and an antiwear/antifretting additive. NanoLub products are based on solid tungsten disulfide (WS2) multilayered nano Fullerene-like particles. The greases are GC-LB certified and have no active sulfur. The company says the unique multilayer IF-WS2 nanospheres provide temperature resistance from -270 to +450 degrees C, shock resistance of 5 million psi and pressure resistance of 4 million psi. They can be used under extreme operating conditions, including high and ultralow temperatures, high pressure, high vacuum, high load, high rotating speed, high radiation and corrosion.

Volvo Approves Engine Oil
Nestes City Pro 0W-20 engine oil has been issued the VCC RBS0-2AE 0W-20 approval for use as engine oil in Volvo passenger cars. Neste says that City Pro 0W-20 is a thin oil that allows passenger cars to save fuel and reduce emissions. This approval enables Volvo owners to purchase topping oil more easily for their cars. The oil is available from Neste Oil stations and retailers in 1- and 4-liter packages.

Additive Bags Dexos1:2015 Approval
Chevron Oronite announced that OLOA 55516 additive technology has received the first Dexos1:2015 approval from General Motors. The company said that besides providing the latest Dexos1 performance, OLOA 55516 also meets ILSAC GF-5 and API SN requirements. GMs new specification requires additional performance and robustness that will help provide fuel economy efficiencies, improved turbocharger performance and reduce stochastic pre-ignition (SPI) events in direct injected small displacement gasoline engines.

Automated System Analyzes Lubes
Spectro Scientific announced the launch of the MicroLab Series all-in-one, automated lubricant analysis systems. The MicroLab platform is a multicomponent analyzer for engine, generator, gearbox, power steering and transmission oils. It comes in two versions. MicroLab 30 analyzes oil chemistry, kinematic viscosity and the concentration of 10 wear and contamination metals. MicroLab 40 offers an increase to 20 wear, contamination and additive metals along with a particle counter for analyzing gear and hydraulic oils.
