Sulfur Unlimited

United States-based additive company Chevron Oronite has expanded its range of additives for marine and power generation applications with OLOA 49835, a new 40 base number marine cylinder lubricant package for vessels operating under the International Maritime Organizations looming 0.5 percent sulfur limit in marine fuel across all non-emission control areas. OLOA 49835 provides balanced acid neutralization and cleanliness performance, API Group I and II base oil coverage and is suitable for intermittent use with 0.1 percent sulfur distillate fuel, the company says in a press release. www.oronite.com

Tata For Now

Tata Motors, Indias largest original equipment manufacturer and owner of the former British luxury carmaker Jaguar Range Rover, among many others, has partnered with Indian lube company Valvoline Cummins to develop a range of co-branded passenger car motor oils. The range will be branded Tata Motors Genuine Oil and will be available for all Tata badged vehicles in India. Valvoline Cummins is a 50-50 joint venture between Americanlube company Valvoline International Inc. and Cummins India Ltd., the local subsidiary of the U.S. engine builder. Gaining Traction

Spanish lube company Cepsa has launched a new heavy-duty engine oil range called Traction. The oils are intended for passenger transportation and public works vehicles, mining, agriculture and freight haulage machinery. According to a press release, the range comprises four products: Traction Pro, synthetic, low ash oils for vehicles with exhaust gas after-treatment systems; Traction Advanced LS 10W30 and S 15W40 synthetic lubricants, which are suitable for Euro VI and earlier engines and comply with API CK4 standards and previous specifications; Traction Max for those Euro V and earlier engines without diesel particulate filter after-treatment systems and are governed by the current ACEA standards after the 2016 revision; and generic Traction for the lubrication of Euro IV and earlier engines. www.cepsa.com

A New Addition

German specialty chemicals company Lanxess is offering a new organic lubricant friction modifier for passenger car and high-performance engine oils called Additin RC 3502. The company says the additive was developed to reduce friction and deliver sustained performance and anti-wear protection. It is non-corrosive and compatible with all synthetic and mineral engine oils and has no sulfated ash, phosphorous and sulfur, commonly known as SAPS. www.lanxess.de
