Boron-Free MWF

Belgin Oil has introduced Generax BF high performance, semi-synthetic, boron-free general purpose metalworking fluid. The company states that the fluid is formulated with mineral base oils and an additive package consisting of strong emulsifiers and chemicals that prevent corrosion, foaming and growth of microorganisms.

Generax BF forms stable and translucent emulsions with water and can be used on cast iron and iron alloy materials. According to Belgin, Generax BF shows similar sump life to that of boron-containing-fluids and it has good cleaning and dispersing effects because it is hard-water resistant.

Synthetic Lubes for the Oil and Gas Sector

ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties introduced the fully-synthetic Mobil SHC Gear series for oil and gas companies operating in extreme environments. The high oxidation resistance of these lubricants enables oil life up to six times longer than standard mineral gear and bearing lubricants, especially when operating at elevated temperatures. These gear oils demonstrate excellent water-handling properties, enhanced resistance to micropitting fatigue, improved seal compatibility and outstanding shear stability.

The company also recently developed other lubricants for the oil and gas industry. Mobil SHC Pegasus natural gas engine oil reduces fuel consumption while extending drain intervals. Mobil DTE 10 Excel hydraulic oils are as much as 6 percent more energy efficient than conventional products. Mobil SHC Polyrex greases combine high-temperature performance, water resistance and balanced wear protection.

PAG Motor Oil Debuts in LeMans

The Dow Chemical Co. announced that an engine oil developed with Ucon oil-soluble polyalkylene glycol base fluid proved successful in the three-car OAK Racing team competing at the 6 Hours of Imola, held 3 July in Italy and the Silverstone race in Northhamptonshire, U.K. At Imola, the engine oil, combined with transmission fluid developed with Ucon OSP, contributed to a 1:34.746 qualifying lap time posted by the teams LMP1 premier class entry, which was the fastest time among gasoline powered qualifiers.

The lubricant formulations were produced by Belgium-based Majot SA. OSP base fluids use oil-soluble polyalkylene glycol (PAG) technology to provide low friction, excellent film-formation, deposit control, polarity, and high viscosity index values. The fluids are compatible with mineral oils and synthetic hydrocarbon base oils , the company says.

Economical Lube Transport, Storage

Engen Petroleum Limited has introduced the IPS 900-litre oil and grease packaging system for one-way distribution across the African continent or for export to other areas. According to the company, the pack is an ideal solution for transporting, storing and dispensing oil or grease in mining, civil engineering and other industries needing on-tap lubricants.

The IPS holds the equivalent of more than four drums worth of lubricant. The system is sealed, so contaminants such as water and airborne particles cant get in. The entire unit is made from non-toxic materials and is recyclable.
