Safety-Kleen Systems Inc., the continents biggest used oil rerefiner, has received a $14.2 million contract from the Defense Supply Center in Richmond, Va. to support the continuous U.S. closed loop motor oil program. Galena Associates LLC, which now has 81 Valvoline Instant Oil Change franchise stores, recently acquired Expressway Lube Centers, a chain of 23 fast-lube service centers throughout Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island. Energy, grains and food company CHS Inc. has signed a purchase agreement to acquire the liquid lubricants business of Nor-Lakes Services Midwest Inc. of Hugo, Minn. and The Farm-Oyl Co. of St. Paul, Minn. Terms were not disclosed for the joint acquisition, which is expected to close on April 30. Nor-Lakes Services Midwest is a private-label lubricant and grease manufacturer, founded in 1988.
