Sweden-based Perstorp Oxo AB will raise prices effective Sept. 1 on two acids used in in esters for synthetic lubricants: 2-ethylhexanoic acid, by €300 (U.S. $355) per metric ton in Europe, 17 cents per pound in the United States and $360/t in the rest of the world; and n-valeric acid, by €125/t in Europe, 7 cents/lb in the U.S. and $150/t in the rest of the world. The company cited supply and demand as well as rapidly increasing raw material prices.
