SKF opened a research and development and manufacturing site for lubrication management equipment in Taicang, China, last month.

It is one of several equipment factories that the company is developing in China.

The facilities in Taicang focus on production of oil purification equipment, intelligent lubrication systems, progressive and single-line lubrication equipment and thin oil circulation systems.

“The high-quality development of China’s industry is inseparable from the comprehensive upgrading of high-end, intelligent and green manufacturing,” Wang Hui, president of SKF China and Northeast Asia, said in a Jan. 25 press release. “In order to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry, SKF continues to deepen its efforts in China and continuously optimizes the localized full value chain layout.”

SKF called attention to some of the equipment to be produced at the site, including its digital single-point lubricator TLDD, which has multiple national patents, describing it as connecting intelligence with lubrication systems.

“Through the digital module, users can perform remote status monitoring and control to ensure that the equipment is lubricated correctly and effectively,” the company said. “This type of intelligent lubrication system will greatly change the past lubrication business model and provide the possibility to create an interconnected intelligent lubrication ecosystem.”

At the same time as the SKF China Lubrication Management R&D Center and Production Base were launched, SKF China and Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. signed a long-term alignment, focusing on port equipment.

SKF China said it has also completed the first phase of a manufacturing site in Changshan Production Base and the first and second phases of another site in Xinchang County in the Yangtze River Delta region. The company has additional construction projects in Dalian and Jinan.

“In the future, SKF will continue to increase its efforts in the Chinese market, promote the upgrading of industrial intelligence, green and low carbonization and provide strong support for China’s industrial development,” the company said.
