China 6 Standard Offers Group III Opening

China started to implement 6a, the first phase of the China 6 emission standards, on July 1 for light-duty vehicles nationwide. Lube suppliers are formulating compliant products, often using API Group III base oils, which will also be suitable for the latest engine models.

Japan’s Eneos Holdings Inc. reported in its financial results on Aug. 12 that its energy segment posted 660,000 kiloliters (594,000 metric tons) in lubricants and specialties sales volume for the first quarter of 2020, down 6 percent from 2019’s first quarter.
