U.S. Finished Lube Prices on the Move

Several major and independent lubricant marketers notified customers of finished lubricant price hikes in the United States that will take effect in October and early November. Factors cited include recent increases in base stock prices and tightening supply.

Allison Announces New ATF Spec

Allison Transmission announced yesterday its newest automatic transmission fluid specification for on-highway equipment. TES 668 fluids will be available on the market beginning Jan. 1 and are specified for all of Allison’s 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 Series transmissions.

California Sets Mandate for Zero-emission Vehicles

California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order last week requiring that all new passenger vehicles to be zero-emission by 2035. The mandate drew criticism from automotive dealers groups, which expressed concerns about consumer adoption and affordability of zero emission vehicles and building the required infrastructure.

New light-vehicle sales in the United States are projected to fall to 1.3 million units for September, down 0.3% compared to September 2019, according to a forecast released Monday by Cox Automotive. Through three quarters, year-to-date U.S. auto sales volume is forecast to be down 19.6% at 10.3 million units, compared to the same period in 2019.
